Even if it was somewhat f***** up. He could have at least got up and tried.

If the doctor treated this person, and then he died, he would have gotten sued, lost his license, and maybe even sent to prison. Absolutely, he made the right choice.

I think it makes sense. You dont want a doctor trying to treat you who is very likely to harm you in a drunken state

I think it's amazing that more women are self advocating! There are so many unnecessary interventions that, besides for discomfort, actually lead to more interventions. Often at the women's expense, just because hospital/doctors are afraid of malpractice, so they cover their asses with all these requirements.

That doctor made the right choice. If anyone is too impaired, they should not be helping because it could have made things worse.

Yes he did. The could have been sued if he helped during the emergency and something he did caused the other person more harm. Drs are not supposed to do anything while intoxicated. They will have no coverage and could lose their license to practice

Any doctor has the same right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. Becoming a doctor is not an obligation to help anyone any time. One does not become a slave. The doctor did fine.

I believe I am experiencing this now it’s sorted at 15 weeks and I’m approaching 17 weeks and a couple days. The only thing that makes me unsure is the fact that my doctor were not able to locate it on an ultrasound.so they said they can’t say what it is but that it could be this. Trying to stay positive and keep faith knowing baby’s looking great and everything else is as well.

My last baby was the funniest labor. I started having contractions at midnight, they got super strong within 30 minutes so I went it he hospital. I waited for about 10 minutes to get into a room, as soon as I changed and laid down, I asked if I could get on all fours because my back was killing me. I started laughing super hard and my water broke. I wasn’t pushing but my body was ejecting the baby lol! The doctor freaked out and kept telling me to wait so she can prep, I told her “I’ll catch her” and I put my hands under me and caught my own baby 😂 I was laughing so hard the entire time. She told me that she’s never seen anyone laugh during labor, especially unmedicated. I turned back around and gave my husband a high five and said “whew I did it, that was fun” while the baby was just laying on the bed 🤣🤣 it was hilarious! It happened so fast! Nothing but adrenaline the entire time. Laughing is the only way I cope with pain.

He made the right decision, dude was on vacation, he had alcohol. If a hospital says don't come to work intoxicated what makes people think he is sober enough to help when he is off duty??

  • @dianawojcik3261

When you have an important skill like that, it can be a lot for social pressure to always be ready to provide care in such a situation. Therefore this person isn't ever socially "allowed" to be drunk. Well...I don't drink and I'm never drunk and I think no one should ever be drunk so there I said it, unpopular opinion I know 😅

I feel like he should have warned everybody look I've been drinking I'm not in my right state if you want me to hear out the problem I will but I am not responsible for anything to do with this person I can try to give you some advice but as a disclaimer I have been drinking so it may not be a good idea. I don't blame him for saying I won't help in all honesty I probably wouldn't either in that situation it takes a long time to get a medical degree

He absolutely made the correct decision. Good Samaritan act protects people assisting under normal circumstances. However, it does nothing to protect anyone who is too impaired to assist but does it anyway. He also has a license to protect.

It depends on the situation. If he is the only person to possibly be able to save the life of that person then he should do what he can but if it’s not life threatening then no the doctor did the right thing

  • @blkmjcwmn61

He should have at least looked to see what was wrong....I don't know if he ethically could refuse to care for the passenger.....but legally if he was drunk, he might be liable for any mistakes made.

He'd probably be covered by a good Samaritan law if he was the last option and the issue became critical. I have no idea what the licensing board would have said. I'm guessing it didn't get critical so he probably did the right thing. If it had become critical, he might have reconsidered or given advice but not touched the patient.

He probably could have directed another passenger who was willing to help with the needed aid unless he felt he was too drunk to do that. Then since doctors have seen this dying part lots of times didnt want to be interrupted on his flight since he was very relaxed from the drinks. I don’t condemn the doctor for what his actions after all he has a right to back off bcuz of drinks.

  • @theresagomez2605

I guess it depends on the nature of the emergency. Obviously, he wasn't expected to perform surgery on the flight, so he may have been capable of rendering aid, or at least instructimg others. That said, legally, he could be sued either way. As the only doctor on the flight, he could be sued for not helping. As a drunken doctor, he could be sued for malpractice. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

As a nurse, if i was ever in his situation, id 10000% make the same call. We would get fired(rightfully)if we showed up to work inebriated due to the risk we would pose to patients, this is the same logic. And given how sue happy society is, if the doctor helped and the pt still didnt make it or was even injured, they would try to say it was because the doctor was drunk. Nah he did a favor to the pt AND his liscence by saying no, n that passenger who tried to shame them can sit on a cactus
